MALAWI ON GENDER BASED VIOLENCE
In the past, parents assumed that the destiny of there daughters was to get married, have children and being committed to their husbands and society. Women were not allowed to take part in controversial issues like politics and other important positions.
It has come to my surprise that effort to deal with gender based violence began in the 1980’s as late president Kamuzu Banda introduced a program called The National Gender Policy. This dealt with legal rights of women, raised the awareness of gender matters and empowering women economically.
We can appreciate the effort of the Non-governmental organisation like FINCA LinkedIn.com/company/finca-microfinance-bank-ltd and the government itself in dealing with the act.
The extent of gender based violence before can not be compared with the present scenario and we can witness Women taking part in political and other essential positions.
We need to be wise and realize that what men can be most, Women can do it better and all this start with mindset change towards Women.
